Get College Scholarships walks you through the steps of applying for scholarships. First, you are introduced to the largest resources for researching scholarships that you qualify for. Next, you learn what scholarships look like, and the various components of vital criteria you need to be aware of in applying for a scholarship. After that, you will get a feel for what the scholarship committees are all about, how they operate, and what they look for in reviewing scholarships. Then, you will learn how to write a scholarship essay, and will read essays that have won scholarships. Lastly, you will put it all together and walk through the process of scholarship application from researching resources to putting your application package in the mail. The course consists of a course overview and six lessons, seven assignments and six quizzes.
There is no required reading, books, or other materials for this course. Students need to have a familiarity with the computer and basic internet navigational skills in order to research scholarships. Earn a certificate (both hard copy and electronic) upon successful completion (additional charges apply). This course discusses what scholarships are, directs you to the best resources for finding thousands of scholarships, reveals how to appeal to scholarship committees, shows you how to complete the scholarship application, outlines vital verifications and criteria you will need that must accompany your application, shows you samples upon samples of what scholarships look like, it baby-steps you through writing an award-worthy scholarship essay and shows you actual samples of essays that have won scholarships. Finally, you walk through the process from research to tucking your application into the mail, to ensure you are clear on how to put your best foot forward and walk the path others have in winning their scholarships. This course consists of six lessons, assignments, netlinks, and quizzes to ensure you have understood the material. By the time you completed this course, you will know how to find and apply for scholarships, as well as how to write a personalized essay. Students need to complete all lessons and course components with a score of 75% or better to qualify for all certificates, except the Certificate of Academic Excellence, which requires 80%. Certificates may be awarded by the instructor at his/her own discretion and are based on student merit.
