Course Description
This course is for people who are new to web design and who want to use Dreamweaver to build attractive and accessible websites. Learn how to plan your Web site, create and edit content, add interactivity and publish your site using Dreamweaver tools. Start with the Dreamweaver user interface and proceed step-by-step to more advanced topics like creating animations, using cascading style sheets and online forms. At the conclusion of this course you will understand how to use the tools in Dreamweaver to build and publish Web sites.
Note: Basic experience with Windows, Web Browsers and the Internet are recommended.
Course Lessons
Lesson 1: Getting Started in Dreamweaver
In this lesson we will learn key web design terminology and about correct file management. We will also review the Dreamweaver Environment and learn how to set up, edit and delete local sites.
Lesson 2: Design Basics Fonts and Characters
In this lesson, we will review the Do's and Don'ts of effective web design and learn how to create and edit text elements in Dreamweaver.
Lesson 3: Images and Links
This lesson will show you how to obtain images from the Internet and place them into documents in Dreamweaver. We will review how to edit image properties, make image maps and make text, image and email links.
Lesson 4: Tables
In this lesson we will learn how to lay out pages using tables. We will also review how to change table properties and insert content into tables. Table tricks are also included!
Lesson 5: Forms
Interact with your site visitors by creating forms for them to fill in! This lesson will show you how to create forms and form elements (text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons, submit buttons, etc) and how to submit and test your forms.
Lesson 6: Publishing a Site
In this lesson, we will learn how to put our websites on the Internet! We will go through the process of logging into an FTP account, uploading and downloading files and managing a website site using Dreamweaver.
Lesson 7: Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
Make your pages sing with Cascading Style Sheets! In this lesson we will review the different kinds of styles and style sheets. We will also create styles and link to internal and external style sheets.
Lesson 8: Inserting and Playing Media
Learn how to create image rollovers, use sound and video files and insert Shockwave and Flash into your web pages.
Lesson 9: Frames
In this lesson we will review why and when you would use frames as well as how to create frames and set and link targets.
