In Dictionary/Thesaurus Skills each class lesson provides a logical method of breaking down the information needed to learn the objectives of good Dictionary, Thesaurus, and Language Skills. It is written in layman terms and broken into incremental steps so the students can 'climb' their way to mastery of these skills. Each lesson has an assignment to achieve the 'hands-on' approach of instruction'. We find that assignments (and grades for assignments) are critical for determining a student's mastery of specific skill goals, and even more so in an online environment.
